Design from a Distance
An unusual project for us, clients living in California built a new home in Pittsburgh with goals to have a similar feel to their homes in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. Our challenge was to not only design a home with their adventurous lifestyle, extensive art collection and personal style in mind, but to do so remotely, mostly through email communication. The couple remained on the West Coast throughout the two-year process with only occasional visits. Utilizing email and overnight packages as our key mode of communication was the biggest challenge, but we rose to the occasion. "Having someone trust you to that extent is a great responsibility and a great privilege," says Sue.
The final result echoes the clients' Tahoe home with beautiful use of color and a space that is comfortable, livable, and warm.
"We can't offer enough positive compliments. Sue and her staff helped us through the full cycle of planning, designing, and construction of our new home. Many times her knowledge and insight helped us improve our design and helped us through difficult decisions during construction. Her taste and decorating eye provided the final and finishing touches."
